Capricorn

You have a keen appreciation for the past, and you take to journal keeping as a way of recording your own personal history. You are leaving a legacy, or at the very least, taking good notes for your memoires. The older you get, the more introspective you get. The journal you leave behind will explain how you got to be the person you were. Because you are aware of a future, albeit unknown audience, you may be inclined to censor your language or your actions on the page. You have your reputation to think of. Physically, your journal tends to be on the large side. You favor an elegantly expensive, refillable cover, and it probably has your name or initials on it somewhere. There is a businesslike aura to everything you do. Your goals are written down in black and white, possibly on the inside cover of your journal, where you can see them every day. When you are in one of your more crotchety moods, there may be long passages about other people's laziness, carelessness, and frivolity. However, for the most part, your aim is to "guard the past from neglect", and you are more interested in recording your own actions. If you dabble in creative writing, even your most experimental poems are built on solid foundations - fully developed themes, correct grammar, and proper sentence structure.

You can combine two passions in one by investing in a luxurious dayplanner. Most of the systems on the market use acid-free paper and offer some kind of archival storage. Buy extra lined and unlined pages to accomodate your journal writing. Be sure to take a few minutes at the end of each month to reconcile your planner. You want to be able to pick it up at some future date and know exactly which appointments you kept, with whom, and where. Get into the habit of jotting down notes throughout the day to flesh out your record. Whether you choose the dayplanner or a more traditional journal format, try to unload your worries onto the page so that you can clear your mind and get on with the task at hand. Later, go back over your entries and make annotations about what actually happened. Was all that worrying necessary? Learn from your experiences. Develop a method of indexing your journals so that you can start to recognize recurring patterns in your life. If you haven't already, consider taking up geneology. In your journal, ponder how your ancestors might have reacted to certain situations. When you feel like you've earned it, treat yourself to a Mont Blanc or a Waterman. They go nicely with your monogrammed journal. One last thing: consider keeping a separate book to catalog your rock or mineral collection if you have one (you usually do). Be sure to note where you found each specimen and why it appealed to you.

Aquarius

You favor a casual approach to journal writing. You don't like to feel obligated to do it. However, you probably keep a notebook with you most of the time so that you can jot down things that you don't want to forget (although that doesn't necessarily do you any good). You have a natural aptitude for writing, and your journal is a study in experimentation, both in content and in format. There are probably phrases, jottings, scribbles, and fragments scattered throughout the book - things that make absolutely no sense to anyone else. You are a gregarious person, but you sometimes go through periods when you want to be alone. These are the times when you are more likely to do personal writing, or when you write more of it than usual. Your journal pages reveal that you often feel misunderstood by the world around you. And then they reveal your rebellious streak. Some of the things in your journal may be entirely made up, deliberately designed to shock any haphazard reader. In your creative moods, you probably turn to poetry, and you tend to be fairly good at it.

You, like Gemini, are a good candidate for keeping an electronic journal. If possible, take it one step further and try a video journal. If you want to combine the high and the low tech, get a notebook for your electronic correspondece. You are probably an enthusiastic internet citizen, and some of your best musings take place in cyberspace. Print your e-mails, forum posts, and chat logs onto nice paper and get the best of both worlds. In real life, you know some fascinating people. Write their stories in your journal, too. On another note, if in your relationships you are in a situation where you are overwhelmed with emotion but at a loss for words, try writing a letter. You can write it in your journal, using it as a practice ground for expressing your feelings; or, you can write a real letter and give it to the person to read. Either method will work. One last thing: keep a separate book for birthday wishes. At the end of the year, see how many of them came true.

  • Your key words are: charismatic, inventive, eccentric, friendly, tactless, rebellious, and unpredicatable.
  • Your key phrase is: I Know.
  • Freewrite on the following word: revolution.
  • If you had access to a time travel machine, where would you go?
  • What were some of your childhood inventions?
  • What did you want to be when you grew up? What are you now? What will you be in ten years?
  • In what ways do you express your individuality?
  • Order or anarchy?
  • Describe a time when your rebellious nature worked against you.
  • Have there been any violent changes in your life?

Pisces

I would be very surprised to find out that you did not keep a journal. You have an abundance of creativity and imagination, and you have to put it somewhere. Your journal is a place for dreamy contemplation. It is probably completely disorganized, with words, scribbles, and doodles on every square inch of paper, in no particular order. You are the sign most likely to use whatever notebook that happens to fall into your hands. You are adept at both poetry and prose, and you also try your hand at songwriting. You probably like to paint, too. Beyond these things, your journal pages are a veritable sea of emotions. Sometimes, in order to protect yourself, you wear a mask of indifference in daily life. However, you still put your true feelings down on paper. Every now and then, there are long passages full of self-pity or narcissism. And, once in a blue moon, when you are really angry, you may let loose some scathing sarcasm or satire.

Use your journal to help you decide where to spend your energy. You are highly susceptible to toxic environments and toxic people. Regularly reviewing your journal entries and paying attention to your various emotional states can help you get rid of both. Somewhere prominent in your journal, create a list to remind yourself of what you truly want. Then, devise a plan of action to help you get those things. If you don't have them already, get books that have unlined pages. You are not going to stay within the lines anyway; why put boundaries on your creativity? Consider keeping a separate movie journal. Alternatively, keep a pop culture journal in which you explore cultural trends and modern myths. Both of these are right up your cosmic alley.

  • Your key words are: emotional, imaginative, impressionable, vague, receptive, romantic, and sensitive.
  • Your key karmic phrase is: I Believe.
  • What is your favorite escape?
  • What is your attitude toward material possessions?
  • How do you feel about boundaries?
  • Freewrite on the following word: compassion.
  • Are you a hedonist? In what situations is this philosophy beneficial? When is it a hinderance?
  • Have you ever had a premonition that came true? Describe the circumstances.
  • Describe a situation in which your tendancy to go with the flow was a liability.
  • How do other people's feelings and emotions effect you?
