Tuesday Ten | April 29, 2008

Selective squeamishness fascinates me. It's amazing how an individual can be squicked out by, say, eating or drinking after someone that they know and love, but think nothing of touching the doorknob of a public restroom with his/her bare hands or sleeping in hotel beds. I know plenty of people who won't eat food at potlucks unless they know and approve of the personal hygiene of the person who brought it but who don't bat an eye when dining at restaurants - no matter how greasy the spoon. It's interesting to think about the internal logic that makes walking barefoot gross but eating off the floor ok. Describe ten things about which you are selectively squeamish.

Tuesday Ten | April 22, 2008

I don't know what it is about Tuesdays, but for the past few weeks it seems that they have been going by so quickly that by the time I register the fact that it *is* Tuesday (and that, therefore, I need to
post a Tuesday Ten), the day is already over. Rather than going another week without a prompt, I will post a simple favorite: List ten good things in your life right now.

The solstice takes place this weekend. I always look forward to the official start of each season and try to mark the occasion in some appropriate way. This year, I plan to stay up late with a mug of hot chocolate and a bowl of popcorn to start the winter season off right.
